Entree': Lasagne

Freshly baked, traditional meat or vegetarian, served with fresh oven roasted garlic bread
Origin: Lasagna is a layered sheet pasta dish that is baked in the oven. Pasta's origins are quite ancient and it is believed to have been prepared by the early Etruscans. Early Romans were using a very simple flour and water dough they called lagane - a word still used today in the center and south of Italy and yes, the word lasagna evolved from that. Most likely this early pasta was made from flour ground from spelt, an ancient wheat that is mold and pest resistant.
It has been claimed that the 14th century traveler Marco Polo had first introduced the pasta to Italians after his voyage to China. The Italians naturally rejects this claim. It is common knowledge that pasta has first been invented in China in the 1st century BC and even special pasta sho
ps have opened during the Sung dynasty (960-1280 AD) as pasta has gained enormous popularity in the country. The Italians on the other hand, show as evidence the tools found in an Etruscan tomb, possibly used for pasta making and claim that the Etruscans (7th- 3rd century BC) have first invented the pasta. It has been believed the Etruscans have obtained the recipe of pasta from the Greeks who used to cut dough in strips and call it "laganon", the word probably forming the origin of "lasagna".
Dessert: Tiramisu

Lady-finger biscuits dipped in coffee and rum, and then layered with a mixture of mascarpone cheese and zabaglione, and finally sprinkled with cocoa powder.
