Dinner Menu
Appetizer: Hot Borscht
Borscht is a Russian national passion - a broad recipe for soup that explains the country's cultural and culinary traditions.
All over Russia, cooks make borscht according to their regional recipes, using ingredients that range from mushrooms and horseradish to cilantro and bell peppers. Ideal on cold and gray days,
borscht always contains beets, which are simultaneously husky and subtle, and then - because it was a soup that fed poor farmers - just about anything that happens to be on hand.
Our finished borscht is a cheering sight. Its brilliant color, topped with a dollop of sour cream and a garnish of dill, makes for a stunning presentation - and it tastes "good!".
Intermezzo: Iced vodka shot.
Entree': Beef Stroganoff
Tender sautéed pieces of beef and mushrooms cooked in a sour cream and mustard sauce and served over "dirty" mash potato - accompanied by iced-vodka xxx.
Origin:
The dish hails from beautiful Saint Petersburg, where a culinary competition was once held in Czarist times, and where, in the 1890s, an intrepid chef concocted a mouth-watering creation of beef, mushrooms and sour cream, and took home the first prize. The chef was in the employ of a noble family of considerable rank in Russia and named the dish in honor of his patron, Count Pavel Alexandrovich Stroganov. The Stroganov family was rich beyond belief. At one time, they had 155,000 serfs on land that amounted to almost 6.5 million acres. One twist on the story is that the dish was designed specifically for the Count because he had lost his teet
h and could no longer chew through a typical steak.

Dessert:
Zapekanka - Baked apple bread pudding served with thick farm cream.
Sunday Breakfast
Eggs with Kielbasa sausage, savory cabbage and potato hash.
